Agree, if people don't realize this, they eventually will, the longer they trade.

Jasmine,
Yeah I'm still trying to get everything together. As for the SP limit orders I just think it is harder to get filled. It may be my brokerage (tradestation) or just how SPs work. Anyway thanks for the response and good luck.

Thanks for the quick response. I have traded equities and options but switched to SPs for a better day trading strategy. I've only traded SPs for the last 3 months and I'm still trying to get a better strategy regarding setting stops and profit targets. The one big difference I noticed between stocks and futures is the ability to enter a trade on limit orders is very hard with SPs. I know what you mean with regards to having discipline, it is hard to keep to what your plan is. I have a few questions regarding SPs and your trading ideas...do you use stops and profit targets?, do you enter on limit or market order?

Thanks again for your feedback, I'd appreciate any thoughts on how you became a consistently profitable trader. Good luck and happy trading!

Hi Jasmine,

I actually saw your article in Active Trader Magazine and was hoping to get some insight from you. I've been trading for a few years but I'm still trying to get consistently profitable. I recently switched to trading emini SPs and have found some success. Have you been able to make a living from trading? You mentioned tradingacademy.com and I was wondering if you took classes there and your personal thoughts on them. Any insight would be great, sorry for the out of the blue contact. I'm just trying to get feedback from real people.

Thanks
Tom

HI Jasmine. Hope you had a good week. In the end, I managed a decent week given a lot of chop. Did catch that down move on options ex yesterday and made it a decent week. I've been lightly trading the ZB with some success but too early to determine. For now, I'm using market profile techniques on that to keep my risk/reward in check. In the next few weeks and into July, I will look further into crude, nat gas and gold. All seasoned traders I've reached out to says I should look into the grain futures (wheat/soybeans). I discounted the idea until I kept hearing it over and over from them. My biggest concern is spreading things out to thin and watching too many markets. Like they say, if it's not broke, dont fix it, but the summertime dullness has really hit the S&P's, not to mention 4th of July week coming up which has always been light and choppy trading.
If you have any experience with any of these (other than crude which I believe you do occasionally) let me know. Hope this horrible weather doesnt dampen your weekend.

Take care, Mike

Yes, it's been a bit crazy lately but it's all good. I just try to focus during market hours. I'll let you know if I get some insight from any interest rate futures traders from the conference, Must admit, I'm looking forward to getting away from the trading platform for a bit. Hope to touch base when I get back. Would be interested to see if our $ES trade strategies are similar.

take care...mike

Hi Jasmine. Funny, I can barely remember what I had for dinner last night but for some reason, I recall the article where you were profiled. I think it was because I sometimes feel I'm the only futures trader in NJ and it caught my eye when I had seen a pro trader practically in my backyard.
I primarily trade the $ES futures and an occasional YM or Nasdaq. Looking to broaden my choices with interest rate index futures but for now, everything is going well so I dont want to upset the apple cart. I'll be at the Trader's Expo in LA later this week to do some interviews for them. I did a radio interview for them a few months ago. If you get bored and want to check it out, you can go to www.twcfutures.com and listen. Therer should be a link on the front page.
I'm a corporate risk manager by trade and I'm almost done with a book focusing on risk management and theory regarding index futures. I have a publisher in China looking to launch it in conjunction with their release of the upcoming CSI300 index futures. We'll see what happens.
I don't recall from the article what futures products you trade? Hopefully you are continuing to do well.
Best of luck with your trading and great to hear from you. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Hi Jasmine. I was reading an article in a trader magazine a few months ago and recall that she was from Old Bridge, NJ. Would that by any chance be you that they did the profile? If not, I apologize. I remember it because I'm from Edison, NJ. Best of luck with your trading .....Mike
